The shaggy scalycap grows in enormous, spreading clusters. It appears at the same time as many honey mushroom species and is easily (and commonly) mistaken for this popular edible mushroom. The shaggy scalycap is said to be edible, but there are reports of poisonings as well, so we don’t recommend it.
